Terms of Use

The rules are simple: use the tools fairly and double-check anything important.

Last updated October 26, 2026.

Using the tools

PHP Checker's tools are free to use for personal and commercial work. You may check websites you own, websites you work on and public websites in general, but you may not use the checker to flood a site with requests, to build lists of vulnerable sites for attacks, or to get around our rate limits with scripts. We may block addresses or networks that misuse the service.

No warranty

The tools and information on this site are provided as they are, without any warranty. Version detection depends on what a server chooses to reveal, and a server may report a version that differs from what it really runs. Support dates may change. Always confirm important decisions, such as security assessments or production upgrades, with your hosting provider and the official sources at php.net. We are not liable for any loss arising from use of the site.

Your code

Code you run in the sandbox stays yours. We never receive it. Do not paste secrets such as passwords or API keys into share links, because anyone with the link can read the code inside it.

Software licences

The in-browser PHP runtime is php-wasm from the WordPress Playground project, licensed under GPL-2.0-or-later, which includes PHP itself under the PHP License. The code editor is CodeMirror, licensed MIT. Source code for these components is available from their projects.

Automated access

The website checker is meant for people. If you need to check many sites, for example an agency portfolio, contact us instead of scripting the form or the API behind it. Requests that ignore the rate limit, rotate addresses to avoid it or target the same site repeatedly may be blocked without notice. Search engine crawlers and ordinary browsers are welcome on every page that is not excluded in robots.txt.

Security research

The checker reads public information only and is not a vulnerability scanner. A result saying that a site runs an outdated version is not proof that the site can be attacked, and must not be used to justify attacking it. If you find a security problem in PHP Checker itself, please report it privately by email so we can fix it.

Availability

We try to keep the tools online and fast, but we do not promise that the service will always be available or free of errors. We may change, add or remove tools and features, and we may change the rate limit of the website checker to keep the service healthy for everyone. The in-browser tools keep working offline for versions your browser has already cached.

Links and content from others

The site links to external resources such as php.net, documentation, hosting providers and open-source projects. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or practices. Code examples on this site are provided for learning; you may copy and use them freely in your own projects.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version. If you keep using the site after a change, the updated terms apply to that use.

Trademarks

“PHP” is used to describe the programming language these tools work with. PHP Checker is not affiliated with or endorsed by The PHP Group or the PHP Foundation.
